why bother selling data storage devices when, as they say, there are already a lot of mobile phones and digital media players?
Masmaganda siguro kung parang vendo type, you connect your memory device (USB flash disk / Memory Card / Phone / Mp3/Mp4 player), you pick the albums / songs via touch screen, you pay for them, then it sends the songs (typically mp3 format) to your device.
^ Well, they could adopt the iTunes Music Store business model, and charge on a per-download basis.
The only thing is how to stop piracy from that point. But it could spur faster developments in DRM software and mechanisms. I remember seeing some protected DVDs that you cannot simply copy (though there is a way) and maybe the cards can follow this path.
Itunes has one of the best DRM protection systems to date. This will prevent people from pirating files which were painstakingly created with the sweat and blood of the artists, composers, producers, and so on.
----- *They* say that the best weapon is the one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it... and it's worked out pretty well so far.
