EXCITEMENT IN THE AIR
October 24, it was our 3rd game on our company's basketball tournament...
Excited, like a day before the game, I was telling myself, "I'm gonna have a big game coz the passing game I have been playing the past two games was not working."
Though the situation wasn't bad at all coz we were at 1-1 with 6 games to go in the elims. And I racked up totals of 15 pts, 14 rebs, 16 assts, 4 steals, 3 blocks putting my average at 7.5 pts, 7 rebs, 8 assists, 2 steals, 1.5 blocks. I just thought... we won the first game by two on a last second shot, we lost the second game by two due to 2 "bunny" misses by my teammates (on different occasions for the 1 pt lead!) in the last 2 mins, then 1 min of the game whom I opted to pass coz much closer to the basket. Di naman kami professional so I understand the misses, but thinking about those misses (and the others i didnt mention), if converted I could have easily average around 11+ assists per game.
Scoring wise I wasn't asserting myself, as always, during the start of the games. Just like the past year, on the first 4 games of the eliminations I averaged 9 pts an outing. We went 2-2. The last 4 games I went on 29 pts, 33 pts, 32 pts and 30 pts. Upping my average from 9 to 20 pts a game by the end of the elims. We went on to win all the way. I thought this time, why not assert myself early tapos pag qualified na lie low naman.
GAME TIME MISHAP
Asserting myself, though if I'm not free to score I pass of course, with 4 assists on 4 of our 5 FGM we were up 11-0. With 5 mins 20 secs left in the 1st, we were on D. The ball got past the guards, on to the center. As I looked over my right our big man got beaten and this guy was going strong for the shot. I reached back to block the shot... I blocked it and then... three very quick "cracks" was all I heard and my arm went down.
POSTGAME
I was admitted at the Medical Center Manila (MCM) at UN avenue cor Taft avenue. Bdw, our games are held at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum along Vito Cruz M.M.
I rather not tell other details of my confinement but I was released two days after, Oct 26. My arm was immobilized for three weeks but luckily no cast was needed since no bones were broken and no ligaments were torn.
PRESENT UPDATE
I am now on a physical therapy sched to bring back muscle strength and conditioning in my arm. Just returned to work yesterday though I have been busy with the paper works for the medical, sss, etc. so i just had the time to log in TDP today.
